I think we should we should submit a group comment as well as individual
comments. PATC is the only club directly affected as none of the others in
MidAtlantic have USFS land. But the rest of us are affected because other
groups, like state agencies, will follow the USFS lead and impose many of
the same rules.
I think the right approach to meeting the deadline is to post comments on
this forum.

Im forwarding this message to all members of the Mid-Atlantic Regional
Partnership Committee. Many of you may already be familiar with the USDA
Forest Service directives (and many may be on the original distribution by
Susan), but the time is growing short for comments. I dont think we have
time enough to convene a meeting, for discussion of this issue, before the
deadline, but will look into that possibility, if there is a consensus that
such a get-together would be appropriate. In lieu of a meeting, I think
members can either 1) respond as a group (with comments assembled by the
Committee Chair or Secretary) or 2) comment individually, with signatures
indicating their membership in the RPC. Ill be happy to accommodate option
1 (again, with a consensus of the group), but feel that option 2 may be a
better choice, since it will allow for a quicker response, a greater number
of responses, and a more accurate representation of our individual clubs
concerns.
One suggestion, mentioned in February, was a possible meeting of our group
at the Biennial Conference in July. If we have significant agenda items, at
that time, and if theres interest from the RPC members, I can arrange a
place and time. If not, perhaps we can get together informally for dinner
one night (or many).
Many thanks to Frank, for assembling and distributing the Bylaws, and many
thanks to Walt, for updating and maintaining the RPC page on the NYNJTC web
site.
