Hi Kerry and All,
1. I'm fine with Kerry's approach to commenting on the accessibility proposal.
2. I'm available for October 15th IF we lock the date in soon!

A few people have weighed in on the question of developing a group response to the proposed USDA FS accessibility directives, and are in favor of such a statement. Unless someone else is interested, I’ll be happy to coordinate this effort, and assemble the collected thoughts of our group. While I think most of us are in broad agreement, regarding the possible adverse impacts of the proposed FS policy, I doubt that there will be an achievable consensus on many of the fine points. With this in mind, and in the absence of a meeting to hammer out these fine points, I think our statement should reflect the fact that it will be a collection of the concerns of MA-RPC members, rather than a unified committee response. Any thoughts or objections? Walt has posted a letter from Dave Startzell, describing the FS directives and listing on-line resources, on the MA-RPC web page (thanks, Walt!). I’d like to propose that MA-RPC members who would like their opinions included in our statement respond to one of the message threads by April 8.

At our meeting in February, a tentative date was discussed for the next meeting. The two dates that seemed to be (more or less) acceptable to the largest number of participants were October 15 and November 5. November 5, according to my notes, won the day. As it turns out, November 5 is also the scheduled date for the Fall meeting of the ATC Board of Directors. Since Karen (and, possibly, other members of our committee) will need to attend that meeting, we’ll have to reschedule ours. October 15th seems to be the obvious alternative. Please let me know if this date is completely out of the question for you. Since there will probably be no universally acceptable Fall weekend, we’ll need to go with a majority of respondents.

Thanks,
Kerry
