Walt

Great suggestion, thanks! We also want to come up with some examples to
show where it's not feasible to make a project accessible based on X, Y, or
Z exception in the proposed language. The purpose of the exercise is to
field test the guidelines in the real world (as opposed to a bureaucrat's
office.) This is a really good chance for the A.T. (and all hiking trail)
communities to influence the outcome of this national initiative. Anyway,
thanks for your good suggestion!

Karen

We could easily make the road into Nuclear Lake accessible and have talked
about it on a number of occasions. I think the only issues are the road gate
and parking. This would give them a short stretch of AT along the lake.

Guidelines

ATC and ATPO are currently soliciting nominations for upcoming projects to
test "real world applications" for the proposed accessibility guidelines.
Each region has been asked to nominate two or three projects. They need not
be projects that will be easily made accessible, we are simply trying to
figure out how to apply the guidelines to see how they work, and whether or
not we HAVE to make the project accessible, versus whether or not we WANT to
make them accessible. Does your club have a project that we can consider
adding to the list to be considered? Contact Karen if you have questions.
